Starting with ProductCart v5.2 users can enter coupon codes on the Shopping Cart page. Your customers can see their total (before tax and shipping) before they login.
Limitations
There are some limitations that store owners should be aware of when turning on this feature.
Turning Shopping Cart Discount Code On and Off
This feature can be turned on and off on the Store Settings page (found in Settings > Store Settings > Store and Display Settings) by clicking the Miscellaneous tab. The section Show "Enter Discount Code" input field on the shopping cart page controls this feature. Select Yes to turn the on and No to turn the feature off.
Limitations
There are some limitations that store owners should be aware of when turning on this feature.
- If a coupon is filtered in such a way that only particular customers can use it, those customers must be logged in before the Discounts field on the Shopping Cart page will accept their coupon. If a customer is not logged in they will be informed that the coupon requires them to log in to use this kind of coupon. If the customer isn't allowed to use the coupon they are shown a message saying their order does not match the requirements of the coupon.
- A coupon can be used for free or discounted shipping. Because the Shopping Cart page hasn't calculated shipping yet this type of coupon will only work during checkout after shipping rates have been calculated. If a customer tries to use a coupon that discounts shipping on the Shopping Cart page they will see a message explaining that the coupon is not available on the selected shipping service.
