Updating Configurator Product Prices
The price of a Configurable Product is determined by its
Base price and the prices of items that have been assigned to it. Because there are many different features that affect prices in ProductCart, the system includes a number of utilities to help you manage and update Configurator prices as they may or may not be affected by other price changes.
Let's review the features that you can access from the "Products > Manage Configurable Products > Update Configurable Product Prices" menu.
Select "Products > Manage Configurable Products > Update Configurable Product Prices > Base Prices" to quickly update the retail and wholesale base price for multiple Configurator products at once.
Select "Products > Manage Configurable Products > Update Configurable Product Prices> Default Prices" to quickly update the saved default price for all Configurable Products. The Configurator default price is no longer calculated in real time in the storefront, but rather saved to the database so that it can be instantly retrieved (e.g. when the customer performs a search in the storefront). This provides substantial performance improvements.
The Default price is updated automatically in a variety of cases, including when you edit a product configuration in the Control Panel. However, there are times when the default price is NOT recalculated automatically. For example, if you update product prices by importing a spreadsheet, the default price of the Configurable Products that include those updated items would not be recalculated automatically.
Here is a list of tasks that may affect prices, but do not trigger automatic Configurator Default price updates. After these tasks, remember to use the Update Default Prices feature.
Select " Products > Manage Configurable Products > Update Configurable Product Prices > Item Prices" to quickly edit the price of multiple Configurable Item prices at once. This does not affect the prices of Configurator products to which the items have been assigned.

Update Configuration Prices
The Problem
When you edit the price of a standard product (e.g. Hard Disk) that has been assigned to one or more Configurable Products (e.g. a Desktop Computer that contains that “Hard Disk”), the price of the Standard product within the Configurable Product is NOT automatically updated. The same applies to Configurable Items. The rationale is that ProductCart cannot assume that you want to apply the same price update to all of the Configurable Products to which you have assigned that item (e.g. the price for a Hard Disk might be lower when purchased within a Desktop Computer compared to a stand-alone purchase). The Solution
You have two ways to quickly update prices within Configurable Product configurations:- Standard Products
Select Update Standard Products Prices to update the online price and wholesale price of all instances of selected Standard Products that have been assigned to one or more Configurable Products. All affected Configurable Products will be updated. You will be able to select which Standard Products should be included in the update and change the corresponding prices.
- Configurator Items
Select Configurable Items Prices to update the price and wholesale price of all instances of selected Configurable Items that have been assigned to one or more Configurable Products. All affected Configurable Products will be updated. You will be able to select which Configurable Prices should be included in the update and change the corresponding prices.
