v5.x Compatibility

Who should read this article?

This article is intended for anyone that is upgrading to v5.x, but cannot access the upgrade wizard because they're being prompted to fix a compatibility issue.

What actions are needed?

There are currently a limited number of reasons you would be prompted to resolve a compatibility issue. Unfortunately, it is not possible to detect which issue is impacting your store. So the best way to resolve the issue is to follow along the troubleshooting steps below.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Step 1: Try to delete the file named web.config located in the following directory: /pc/service/api/

  • Step 2: If your control panel login page uses SSL, then make sure the browser is displaying the lock icon. This is usually a green icon located to the left of the URL at the top of your browser. If your SSL is not working correctly, or has expired, you may not be able to upgrade until the issue is resolved.

  • Step 3: Download the v5.2 update again and re-upload all of the files to their respective directories.

  • Step 4: Ask your web host if the firewall is setup to allow local site to site POST requests. If you are hosting at Rackspace the firewall settings may need adjusted to allow local requests.

  • Step 5: Make sure that the .NET Framework is enabled for your site.

  • Step 6: Make sure the the XML Parser v3 is assigned under your ProductCart Troubleshooting Utility Page (Help > Troubleshooting Utility)

  • Step 7: If steps 1 through 6 did not resolve the issue, then please open a support ticket.
